Ever After

(We all have wings...)
She chose not to use hers.
She wanted to stay grounded.
When she walked back to her familiarity,
She noticed all of her old friends
With holes in theirs.
They claimed it was from lack of use,
The endless folding and unfolding
of the past.
"Moths", they complained...
And they all chuckled, and nodded their heads
She watched
Their children ran around the back yard
Like fire flies
Escaping from Bell jars
So free, she could feel an emptyness
That biological clock
Drowning in her magic
(She chose not to use hers.)
(She wanted to stay grounded.)
Still, she coveted the parachute twins
On her back
She knew it was a priceless wait
That patient tapestry
One day
Her dreams will unfold
A pair of awe inspiring wings
All
Babies Breath and Diamonds
To alight
In delicate and gossamer flight
And for one brief moment
Own pure beauty
It all began with a Raspberry Starfish...
