Forbidden Love
I AM THE KING!
He slammed his hand
Across inlaid Mahogany
The goblets smashed
The Cook ran
But the peasant girl
Stood still and silent
Eyed him with her steel blues
She did not turn them
to the ground
And for the second time
he Slammed his fists down
And bellowed
I AM THE KING!
I AM!
She stood in her place
and showed him the face of a dove
WHO ARE YOU?
He screamed at her
I am the other side of your longing,
Your majesty
The others murmered "Poet"
"Scribe"
WHAT...? YOU...? HE YELLED
Nothing, your Majesty
I am No one.
And he looked at her, now
With her wings torn away
YOU ARE EVERYTHING I SHALL NOT WANT FOREVER!!
and inside her heart
the little bird
died (AGAIN)
With that, the elegant guests
All shook their heads
At the foolish girl
And the King threw back his head
And bellowed a wicked laugh
That evening, in the Kings chambers
The peasant girl was secretly brought to him again
And in the Kings bed,
He tucked his arm around the little wren
and kissed her neck
and proclaimed his secret love again to her
Her eyes
filled with his words
and tears spilled
down her face
you are my everything, he whispered
He slammed his hand
Across inlaid Mahogany
The goblets smashed
The Cook ran
But the peasant girl
Stood still and silent
Eyed him with her steel blues
She did not turn them
to the ground
And for the second time

you are my everything, he whispered
It all began with a Raspberry Starfish...
