Out of Place
She used to ask him
to take her to the same places
Building romantic blocks
of co-existance
He used
to take her to those same places
When they felt lost
or needed inspiration
They used to meet eachother
at those same places
Where the tastes were the same
Or that table nook
beckoned their names
It was always the same
It was comforting
being repetitious
But time changed hands
and they slipped away
from the same places
and life tumbled
and seasons drew a line
and distance became
distant
And they chose different faces
To smile next to
Until everything
Was no longer the same
Until their voices
recognized light again
and pear trees came to life
In beautiful little spurts
They gathered at new places
Everything was strange
The streets
The tastes
The tables
But places no longer mattered
Soul mates don't require them
to take her to the same places
Building romantic blocks
of co-existance
He used
to take her to those same places
When they felt lost
or needed inspiration
They used to meet eachother
at those same places
Where the tastes were the same
Or that table nook
beckoned their names
It was always the same
It was comforting
being repetitious
But time changed hands
and they slipped away
from the same places
and life tumbled
and seasons drew a line
and distance became
distant
And they chose different faces
To smile next to
Until everything
Was no longer the same
Until their voices
recognized light again
and pear trees came to life
In beautiful little spurts
They gathered at new places
Everything was strange
The streets
The tastes
The tables
But places no longer mattered
Soul mates don't require them
It all began with a Raspberry Starfish...
