The Last Words for Tonight
I could write
one thousand lines tonight
But you would crinkle up your nose
And wonder where The Moon has gone
And how your window knows
And how upside has a downside
And fingers count like toes
And how love can draw a circle
Around, and around it goes
But I will put my words away
One thousand Lover's Pleas
And You will cross your knees
And sit within the Moonlight
Closer to your windowsills
And tell me how The Moon is there
No matter how it "wills"
And tuck this flighty nodding chin
And whisper how you know
And how love begins again
Within a day
Or half a week
and how I gather him
one thousand lines tonight
But you would crinkle up your nose
And wonder where The Moon has gone
And how your window knows
And how upside has a downside
And fingers count like toes
And how love can draw a circle
Around, and around it goes
But I will put my words away
One thousand Lover's Pleas
And You will cross your knees
And sit within the Moonlight
Closer to your windowsills
And tell me how The Moon is there
No matter how it "wills"
And tuck this flighty nodding chin
And whisper how you know
And how love begins again
Within a day
Or half a week
and how I gather him
It all began with a Raspberry Starfish...
